Woman dragged along Gold Coast road in violent robbery

Police are hunting a thief who dragged a woman along a Gold Coast road before fleeing with her bag yesterday afternoon, leaving her lying in the middle of the road.

Security footage shows a man pulling the woman along part of Eastlake Street, Carrara.

The 63-year-old woman was approached by the man at 4.10pm, as she stood next to her car.

He told the woman she had a flat tyre, grabbing her handbag when she bent down to check.

She held on to the bag and was dragged up to 20 metres across the asphalt before she let go.

He managed to wrestle the bag from her and escaped, jumping into a white car waiting nearby.

Witnesses helped the woman to her feet.

Police have not yet made any arrests over the incident.

The woman was treated for grazes and brusies to her back, arms, legs, feet, ankles.

Her credit cards, phone, some cash and personal items were stolen.

The man is described as having a dark complexion, is approximately 170cm tall and is possibly in his early 20s.
