A 34-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of a doctor in the West Australian Mid West town of Geraldton.

Police were on Tuesday called to a property on Shenton Street in Geraldton where Geraldton Health Campus doctor Dinendra Athukorala, 34, was found with injuries.

Paramedics were called, but Dr Athukorala could not be resuscitated.

The woman, reportedly his wife and also a doctor, was soon questioned over the suspected homicide.

On Friday, police said she had been charged over Dr Athukorala's death and had been remanded in custody.

She is scheduled to appear in the Geraldton Magistrates Court later on Friday.

Dr Athukorala's family, believed to be Sri Lankan, have been notified.

Detectives and consul officials were offering the family all available assistance, police said.

Separately, investigations continue into a second suspicious death in Geraldton this week.

On Thursday, police were called to a home on Seventh Street where the body of a 51-year-old man was found.

They declared several streets protected forensic areas and also closed the Geraldton Health Campus car park as part of the investigation.
