Woman suffers serious burns after being attacked by man in Melbourne home

A 23-year-old woman has been left with serious burns after she was allegedly attacked by a man in a Melbourne home.

She was taken to The Alfred hospital in a serious condition, with burns to her upper body after the assault at Ardeer last night.

Police later arrested a 22-year-old man over the attack.

He was taken to The Alfred hospital in a stable condition with burns to his arms and hands and will be interviewed by detectives later today.

Police and Ambulance Victoria could not confirm how the burns were inflicted.
