South Australia Police said the man found at a dump in Adelaide's north yesterday was known to his alleged killer.

The body was removed and a post mortem examination is expected to be undertaken today.

Police continue to search the dump.

The dead man was identified as a 52-year-old man from Hectorville.

A 44-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder.

"This is not a random attack. These two males lived at the same address and are known to each other," Superintendent Matt Nair said.

"We don't believe it was related to organised crime or anything of that nature.

"We don't know the motive, nor understand that at this stage."
