Malcolm Turnbull says there was no need for Liberal MP Tim Wilson to apologise after he refused to let the prime minister interrupt him during a partyroom meeting.
Mr Wilson has told Fairfax Media it was not his intention to be disrespectful by expressing his desire to finish his remarks on the same-sex marriage plebiscite debate during Tuesday's gathering.
"He's a gentle soul and very courteous," Mr Turnbull told reporters of Mr Wilson, saying there was no need for him to say sorry.
