Wilkie warms up slowly for campaign

As week one of the federal election campaign draws to a close independent MP Andrew Wilkie remains wary of a long road ahead.
"Unlike a lot of candidates and a lot of the incumbents I've actually spent a lot of this week doing my job as the member for Denison and I've squeezed in electioneering where I can," the Hobart-based politician told reporters on Friday.

"It's very important that over a long period of two months, that sitting members and incumbent senators, first and foremost ... they need to continue to represent and help their communities."
