Federal independent MP Andrew Wilkie believes Australia will be "dancing with the devil" by sharing intelligence with Iran.

The former intelligence analyst warned the government will be fed "bucketloads of crap" under a deal secured by Foreign Minister Julie Bishop.

Iran's history of torture and disinformation meant it should be the last country Australia should partner with, Mr Wilkie told reporters in Canberra while urging Labor to "grow a back bone" and oppose the arrangement.
