Wild footage captures truck pushing car on Melbourne freeway

A motorist says she is lucky to be alive after a truck ploughed into her car and pushed it 750 metres down a Melbourne freeway.

The woman spoke to 9News about the freak accident on the Western Ring Road in Sunshine West just after 7am today.

Footage captured by a witness watching on in horror shows the incident unfold amid the soaking weather conditions near the Boundary Road exit.

The victim, a woman in her 40s from Bacchus Marsh, said she was in the left lane preparing to turn into McDonalds to get a coffee, when the truck attempted to merge from behind into her lane.

"I'm lucky to be alive," she told 9News.

"I kept telling myself, I'm not dying today … I don't want the last thing I see to be the front grill of a truck."

Police attended the freeway collision and spoke to all parties involved.

Details were exchanged and no one was injured but the woman said she felt very shaken after the incident.

It comes one week after the tragedy of four police officers killed after a truck allegedly knocked them down on a separate Melbourne freeway.

Witnesses Riley Maitland and Brody Psaila said it seemed like the truck driver did not see the car.

"Horns were going and it just seemed like the truck driver was still moving, it's like he didn't even see the car in front of him," Mr Psaila said.

"I think it's good firstly that nobody is hurt especially after the horror accident that happened last week with the truck and four police officers."

Police believe the spray from the wet road was a factor in the collision.

No offences were detected and no further police action will be taken.
