Woman accused of stealing wigs bound for child cancer patients

Police are seeking an unknown woman over the alleged theft in Melbourne of special wigs made for children with cancer.

Officers describe the theft from a shop in the inner-city suburb of Richmond on Monday as heartless.

The woman entered a store on Lennox Street about 3.30pm, and while staff were working in the rear of the property, she stuffed four wigs into her jacket and a bag before leaving.

Earlier, the wigs had been placed in the reception area of the store ahead of delivery to child cancer patients in a local hospital.

The woman is described as Caucasian with long, dark hair with blonde ends.

She was wearing all black clothing and was carrying a handbag.

A male waiting outside the shop for her is described as Caucasian, and was wearing a white or grey beanie, black hoody, black pants and white runners.

Police have released images of a woman they believe may be able to help with enquiries.
