Whiteley confident of Braddon win

Liberal MP Brett Whiteley is confident he will retain the marginal northern Tasmanian seat of Braddon but is well aware Labor candidate Justine Keay is nipping at his heels.

The first-term MP holds the division with a margin of just 2.6 per cent but says the electorate is aware of the coalition's plan, which has seen unemployment across the seat drop from 18 per cent to 12 per cent.

"(I'm) quietly confident - it's been a close race the whole way through. It is a marginal seat when it's all said and done and marginal seats are renowned for being close," Mr Whiteley told ABC TV in Burnie on Saturday.
