What's in the 2016/17 ACT budget

ACT BUDGET AT A GLANCE

* $94.3 million deficit in 2016/17 (net of superannuation liabilities).

*$182 million deficit with superannuation liabilities included for the first time.

* Projected return to surplus in 2018/19.

* $5.4 billion total expenditure.

* 2.5 per cent state final demand in 2016/17.

* 1.25 per cent forecast employment growth.

MEASURES INCLUDED IN THE 2016/17 BUDGET

* $1.6 billion for health.

* $1.2 billion for education.

* $728.2 million for new infrastructure and capital spending over four years.

* Tax on insurance premiums abolished from July 1, 2016.

* $21.4 million package to reduce domestic violence and help victims.

* $30-a-year Safer Families levy on all households to pay for it.

* A lower-than-previously-planned rate increase that averages 7 per cent a year for homes over next five years.

* Change to rates calculation for apartments, adding $150 to bills in 2017/18 and $115 in 2018/19.

* $3.1 million over four years to add a seventh minister to cabinet.

* $8.2 million over four years to bring international cricket matches to Canberra.
