What's in Adelaide's new hospital?
ADELAIDE'S NEW HOSPITAL:
* The new $2.4 billion Royal Adelaide Hospital will officially open its doors to patients on September 5.
* The hospital will be the largest in SA spanning the equivalent of three city blocks on a 10-hectare site.
* Current RAH patients will be moved over three days, from September 4-6.
* The new hospital will have 800 beds compared to the 680 at the current RAH and will care for an estimated 85,000 inpatients and 400,000 outpatients each year.
* It is estimated 500,000 tonnes of soil were removed from the site before construction.
* It will have a digital tracking system to manage its vast collection of medical equipment.
* About 1.3 million meals will be severed per year at the hospital.
* Its most expensive piece of equipment will be a $4 million hyperbaric chamber.
* The hospital will use robots to transport food and equipment around the building.
