Double stabbing leaves one man dead another in critical condition
One man has died, another is in a critical condition and a man has been arrested, after a double stabbing in western Sydney overnight.
Emergency services were called to Bertha Street at Merrylands about 12.20am this morning after reports a 49-year-old man had been stabbed in the neck.
Twenty minutes later paramedics and police attended another stabbing at nearby Uren Place, where a man, 40, was stabbed in the neck.

Both men were taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
The 40-year-old man died shortly later.
Police set up a crime scene at both locations and searched the surrounding area, with help from dog and air units.
It resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old man on Bird Avenue, Guildford.
Police believe the three men are known to each other.
Police are continuing inquiries and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
