Sydney mayor says western suburbs are 'full' ahead of migrant influx
A Sydney mayor has warned the western suburbs are "full" ahead of a forecast major influx of migrants.
About 650,000 people are set to arrive in Australia in the next two years.
Western Sydney is a traditional destination for many and Fairfield Mayor Frank Carbone says they have always been welcomed.

But right now, he said, there isn't enough housing or infrastructure in the west to support a bigger population.
"We don't want to see granny flats popping up everywhere, we don't want housing prices skyrocketing, we don't want rent to go up," he told 2GB.
"We could accept it if the government said 'we have a plan'."

The federal government's signature housing policy is stalled in parliament, where it's opposed by the Coalition and the Greens.
"One of the biggest challenges in our economy is we don't have enough homes," Treasurer Jim Chalmers told Today.
"We need to boost housing supply."

Chalmers accused the opposition and the Greens of "economic madness" in opposing the policy.
But he said there was no need to halt migration.
"What we need to do is manage it responsibly, and that is why the government is reviewing our migration settings," he said.
