Man charged after allegedly beating another person's dog to death in Perth

A man has been charged for allegedly beating a pet dog to death in Perth.

The man allegedly went to the home of someone he knows and repeatedly beat and kicked the dog about 6.15am (AEWT) on January 19.

He then allegedly took the dog and left.

The incident was caught on CCTV and reported to police.

The man alleged returned the dog, which was suffering critical injuries, to the owner on Tuesday.

The dog was immediately taken to a vet but it could not be saved.

Today, police charged a 26-year-old man from Leda with cruelty to animals and stealing.

He has been remanded in custody and will face Rockingham Magistrates Court today.
