Two dead in horror night on West Australian roads

A 19-year-old woman has died after being hit while trying to cross a freeway in Perth.     

The accident happened on the Kwinana Freeway near Russell Road in Atwell at 4.30am on Sunday.

Another woman, in her 40s, was killed in a separate crash in Gidgegannup, 40 kilometres from Perth, at 1.20am on Sunday.

Police believe the Toyota Landcruiser she was travelling in skidded off the road at a bend, and hit a tree.

The driver, a man in his 40s, received neck injuries and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital.

Investigators are calling on witnesses of both fatalities to contact police.
