Wellness clinic mogul charged with stealing peptides and steroids

A Melbourne "celebrity wellness practitioner" has been accused of stealing almost $300,000 worth of peptides and steroids from a chemist allegedly involved in the Essendon drug scandal.

Shadi Kazeme, 27, is the director behind a controversial chain of hydration clinics called iv.me, which boasts Home and Away star Pia Miller and DJ Ruby Rose amongst its celebrity clients.

Pharmacist Nima Alavi is suing Kazeme for allegedly stealing $285,391 worth of antibiotics, steroids including Oxandrolone and Primoteston, human growth hormone, and peptides, Fairfax Media reports.

Mr Navi claims the alleged theft happened while Kazeme worked for him at his South Yarra clinic, between January 2014 until June 2015.

Criminal charges have been laid against Kazeme, on top of Mr Alavi's lawsuit.

Mr Alavi was named as a key figure in the Essendon drugs saga, after the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority claimed he provided banned drug thymosin beta-4 to sports scientist Stephen Dank to inject in players.

Kazeme has advertised her wellness clinics as offering the "innovative concept" of injecting "hydration" fluids into people's veins via a drip, for as much as $340.

According to its website, the treatment helps "cleans, recover and detoxify" the body, and promotes anti-ageing and fat burning in the body.

Health professionals have hit out at Kazeme, accusing her of making "false, misleading and deceptive" claims.

Her Sydney clinic was shut down in February after a client was hospitalised following an IV vitamin infusion.

She has been suspended from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Kazeme has refused to comment.

She will appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court in August.
