Man denied bail a day before alleged hit-run victim's eighth birthday
The man charged over the alleged hit-and-run death of two young brothers will remain behind bars after being denied bail a day before one of the boys was due to celebrate his birthday.
Shane and Sheldon Shorey, aged six and seven, died after being hit by a car along with their mother Shayleen Frail and two other boys as they walked to a local swimming pool on Tuesday afternoon in Wellington, near Dubbo in regional NSW.
Today Jacob Donn, who is facing 14 charges over the deadly crash, bowed his head as he was refused bail in Dubbo Local Court.

Police allege the 25-year-old was driving dangerously when he ran over the brothers, their 34-year-old mother and two other boys – aged nine and 10.
The 10-year-old was an aspiring footy player. His foot was amputated last night.

Mr Shorey said his boys had big dreams they would never be able to fulfil.
"Shane actually wanted to be a copper, and he was adamant on that, I said 'I'd get you there'. Sheldon wanted to be a firefighter I said 'I'd get you there, my boy'."
He spoke yesterday of his heartbreak after Donn was charged.
"It leaves my heart ripped out. I feel gutted, I feel empty," Mr Shorey said.

"Two babies gone. I gotta bury two kids, I'd never wish that upon anyone."
Donn is accused of taking off after allegedly hitting the children, and could be facing more charges depending on the results of drug and alcohol tests taken on the night of the crash.
Ms Frail is now in a stable condition after being airlifted to hospital in Sydney.
The nine-year-old has been released from hospital.
Donn is due back in court next week.
