Tropical Cyclone Wallace forms off Western Australia coast
A Category 1 tropical cyclone has formed off the coast of the Kimberley region in Western Australia.
Cyclone Wallace formed hundreds of kilometres north-northwest of Kalumburu yesterday.
It is currently producing sustained winds of 85km/h and gusts of 120km/h near its centre.

The cyclone is slowly moving west-southwest, and due to its projected trajectory off the Pilbara coast, these locations are not expected to feel further effects. Bureau of Meteorology
The cyclone is far enough offshore to have no significant impact on the coast. Wind and rain however have already been recorded in places in the far north of WA.

There is a low chance Wallace could approach the west Pilbara coast sometime during the next week, bringing showers, storms, increased winds and ocean swell.
The cyclone is expected to also direct heat down into southern WA later on in the week.
