Wet weekend ahead of parts of NSW and Queensland

A wet weekend is expected across parts of NSW and Queensland after a warm week.

A trough will trigger a few showers and storms across northern Queensland and the Top End.

High pressure and dry air will keep elsewhere settled.

Sydneysiders can expect a partly cloudy day today with a slight chance of a shower.

Winds southwesterly 15 to 20 km/h, turning southeasterly 15 to 25 km/h in the middle of the day and reaching 30 km/h along the coast.

Temperatures are predicted to reach a top of 22 degrees.

Meanwhile, the rest of NSW can expect mostly sunny weather, with cool-to-cold temperatures in the east.

Sunny, cool-to-mild temperatures in the southwest while mostly sunny, cool-to-mild are expected in the northwest.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a hazardous surf warning for the Illawarra Coast, Batemans Coast and Eden Coast.

Surf and swell conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, boating, and swimming.

Surf conditions may be more powerful than they appear in Sydney on Saturday.

Victorians can expect a mostly sunny, cool-to-cold in the south. Mostly sunny, cool-to-mild in the northwest. Fog then sunny, cool-to-cold in the northeast.

Sunny, mild-to-warm temperatures are predicted for Queensland's southeast.

There will be a clearing shower and very warm temperatures in the state's northeast.

Meanwhile, it will be sunny, warm in the northwest and mostly sunny, cool-to-mild in the southwest.

In the Northern Territory, conditions will be mostly sunny, very warm in the north. Windy, warm over the interior. Mostly sunny, cool-to-mild in the south.

In South Australia, residents in the southeast and central can expect a mostly sunny, cool-to-cold day.
