Labor's the country party: Bill Shorten

Labor has declared itself the real country party in a move aimed at pressuring the Nationals over school funding.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten derided the rural and regional party claiming it had sold out country kids on education and Gonski school funding.

"When it comes to education the Labor Party is the country party of Australia," he told reporters in Rockhampton on Thursday.
