Watson, Wahab fined for cricket stoush

Australia allrounder Shane Watson and Pakistan paceman Wahab Riaz have both been fined for their role in a stoush during Friday's World Cup quarter-final.

Watson and Wahab were docked 15 and 50 per cent of their match fees respectively by match referee Ranjan Madugalle.

There were a handful of tense moments between the pair during the match at Adelaide Oval, but Madugalle took exception to a specific incident in the 33rd over.

"Watson ignored the umpires' instructions and verbally engaged with Wahab," the International Cricket Council said in a statement today.

"(Wahab) followed through towards the batsman and used aggressive and abusive language."
