Watch this freshly-hatched king brown snake take its first breath

A baby king brown snake has been filmed taking its first breath at the Australian Reptile Park.

The special moment the snake hatched from its egg was caught by the park’s head of reptiles and venom, Billy Collett, and posted to Facebook.

But although it might be cute now, this snake will grow up to feast on lizards, birds, small mammals, frogs and other snakes and could one day stretch more than 2.5 metres long.

King brown snakes carry seven times more venom than the average tiger snake, although their venom is not particularly toxic, according to the park’s website.
