Warrant issued for Ben Cousins' arrest after court no show

Former AFL player Ben Cousins is facing arrest again after he failed to show up in a West Australian court.

Ben Cousins was lying low at his father's home in Bicton yesterday morning, an hour after he was a no show at court.

At 10.30am the court was told Cousins was at the doctor and could not make it, but At 11.30 he answered the door to 9NEWS at his home.

The former West Coast Eagles star's lawyer said he had a medical appointment.

The magistrate demanded written proof.

By four o'clock yesterday afternoon and with no sign of a medical certificate a warrant was issued for Cousin's arrest.

The 36-year-old faces jail or a fine over an alleged "low speed" chase four weeks ago.

Police say he was driving erratically and led them from Bicton to Mosman Park after being asked to pull over.

Since then the former AFL star has been arrested twice.

He breached security at an SAS base, then in a bizarre incident in Canningvale, he was chased by police and arrested outside a temple.

No charges have been laid over those incidents.

Cousins was recently admitted to Armadale hospital - suffering what's thought to be a drug-induced psychosis.

It is understood he's still dealing with medical issues but he wasn't able to prove to the court that he went to doctor this morning.

It's now up to Cousins to hand himself in or face another arrest.
