Would-be robber followed home by customer

A 61-year-old man allegedly held a knife to the throat of a supermarket worker and was caught by police after a customer followed him to his home in Perth's southeastern suburbs.

The supermarket worker was taken to hospital where she underwent surgery for a cut on one of her hands that was inflicted as she tried to defend herself.

The man, who was charged with attempted aggravated armed robbery and grievous bodily harm, was refused bail and will appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court later on Wednesday.
