A woman is dead and a young child has been seriously injured after the stolen car they were in crashed after a police pursuit in Perth.

A short time later the car was involved in a crash with another vehicle.

The Hyundai was reported stolen and is believed connected to a number of thefts across Perth.

A female passenger, 23, in the Hyundai suffered critical injuries and later died at Royal Perth Hospital.

The 24-year-old male driver remains in a critical condition in hospital.

A four-year-old boy, who is a relative of the man and the woman, was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital with serious injuries.

The two men in the other vehicle were not injured.
