Wilders arrives in Perth, cuddles koalas

Controversial right-wing Dutch MP Geert Wilders has landed in Perth and been snapped cuddling koalas.

Mr Wilders is in the city to launch the political party he inspired, the anti-Islam Australian Liberty Alliance, which will unveil its Senate candidates for the next federal election at a members-only function on Tuesday.

He posted a photo on Twitter on Monday of himself hugging a koala at Caversham Wildlife Park with the caption #iloveaustralia.

"Glad to see you got in! Hopefully they let you stay for your speech!," one follower wrote.

The party was concerned as the launch neared that Mr Wilders would not be granted his visa.

During his last visit to Perth in 2013, Mr Wilders was forced to call off a news conference and speaking engagement after the venue, a four-star hotel, cancelled his booking.
