A mother has been found shot dead inside her home and the body of her ex-partner has been located in a different burnt-out unit in a suspected murder-suicide in Perth.

Police found Georgia Lyall, 32, inside her home on Sabina Road in South Guildford about 10.40am on Thursday after concerns were raised for her welfare.

Emergency services were then called to a unit fire 22 kilometres away on Escot Road in Innaloo, where they found the body of a man believed to be her ex-partner Luke Noormets.

It's believed Noormets was found with a fatal self-inflicted injury after the fire started.

Police are investigating the background of Noormets, who is believed to be a former Rebels nominee once jailed for the kidnap and torture of a drug dealer over an unpaid debt, a crime for which he served several years behind bars.

Detective Inspector David Gorton said police had quickly established a link between the address in Innaloo where Noormets was found and the address in South Guildford.

"The investigations so far has identified that there may have been some telephone connections between the two," Gorton said.

"We do have police speaking with the families of both victims, we do believe the families know each other, but obviously devastating for both families."

Lyall proudly described herself as a "mama" on social media.

Loved ones have set up a fundraising page for Lyall's family, describing her as a "beautiful, bright and bubbly soul".

"Fiercely loyal, independent, funny and caring, there wasn't a day that went by where Georgia didn't make a positive impact on someone's life," the crowdfunding page reads.

"Our Georgia was selfishly and devastatingly murdered in her own home and those close to her are now faced with the crushing reality that life will never be the same again."

Detectives are investigating both properties as they try to piece together the moments leading up to the incident.
