Warning after chemical spill in Perth

A chemical spill in Perth's east has prompted a warning for people to avoid the area and residents to remain inside with windows closed and air conditioner's off.

The chemical substance on Sheffield Road near the intersection of Dampier Road in Welshpool has been identified as mono isopropylamine, which is used in pesticide manufacturing.

People bounded by Sheffield Road, McDowell Street and Kurnall Road may be affected by smoke and fumes, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services warns.
