WA window smashing rampage costs $40k

Windows at several businesses have been smashed in Western Australia's Great Southern region, causing about $40,000 worth of damage.

Police say the offender began his rampage on Booth Street in Mount Barker on Saturday night, smashing the windows of two parked cars, then destroyed 16 windows at the Information Centre, eight at the Shire office, four at a pub and more windows at two other businesses.

A 48-year-old man was charged with seven counts of criminal damage and had treatment in hospital for a cut to his arm.
