A volunteer firefighter has been charged after allegedly starting two fires and making a number of false triple zero phone calls about bushfires.

The 18-year-old man is accused of making seven fake emergency calls between September and December this year in Western Australia, and attending the scenes as a volunteer firefighter.

Police say the man also lit two fires in Bedfordale southeast of Perth on December 21 and 24, and then attended the blazes as an emergency responder.
