Children born with foetal alcohol spectrum disorders are more likely to end up on the wrong side of the law, according to the West Australian government.

Acting WA Corrective Services Minister Liza Harvey on Thursday announced a $195,000 grant to fund research into the life-long disorder at the University of Western Australia.

Ms Harvey said the research clinic would conduct research on people under the age of 18 with FASD, who are at higher risk of developing drug and alcohol addiction.
