WA premier's son punched at nightclub

The 26-year-old son of West Australian Premier Colin Barnett has allegedly been repeatedly punched in the face by a stranger at a nightclub.

Sam Barnett posted on Facebook that he was punched three or four times in an unprovoked and random attack, describing it as a "complete nightmare".

"Luckily the police identified the person and I'll be pressing charges," he wrote.

"The venue also has a serious case to answer for as the response by security was reprehensible.

"Upon calling the police the security was almost as bad as the alleged perpetrator in their behaviour."

A police spokeswoman confirmed officers were investigating after an alleged assault on a Claremont man at 2am on Sunday in the mezzanine level of a nightclub on Roe Street in Northbridge.

She said the victim, who was with two women, received minor injuries.

Mr Barnett is a property investor and has been involved in the Perth Fashion Festival and Singapore Fashion Week.

It has been a rough couple of weeks for the premier's son.

He posted a photograph on Facebook about two weeks ago that showed scratches on his Porsche.

"Came back to my Porsche after a couple of hours and just about every panel was scratched," he wrote.
