WA passengers restrain man on flight

An allegedly drunk and aggressive man has been restrained by several passengers on a Qantas flight from Perth to Sydney.

Passenger Simon Bowen said the 45-year-old man became aggressive after flight attendants refused to give him alcohol.

"Two fellas managed to stop him and get a hold of him because his arms were flailing around and he was hurling abuse at everybody," Mr Bowen told AAP on Monday.

"You just had to do what you had to do really, to make sure the environment around was safe."

He said the man was handcuffed and restrained in a seat at the back of the plane until landing.

Mr Bowen, who guarded the man for the remainder of the journey, said several federal police officers boarded the flight upon landing and took the man into custody.

The Australian Federal Police confirmed officers responded to an incident involving a man who was "acting inappropriately towards airline staff".

A spokesman said the man was allowed to leave the airport on Sunday pending further investigation.

No charges have been laid at this time.
