WA Opposition doubts Landgate revenue

The West Australian opposition has questioned if the planned "commercialisation" of part of the state government's land title agency will raise the hundreds of millions of dollars needed for the national redress scheme.

The McGowan government intends to lease Landgate's automated land title services to an external operator for up to 50 years after rejecting plans to fully privatise the agency.

"[Landgate] generates between $20 and $40 million to the government's consolidated revenue a year ... unless they sold it completely or did things they are not doing now, they are not going to generate a large amount of additional money," Opposition Leader Mike Nahan said.
