WA mum jailed for pseudoephedrine buys

A mother-of-four wept in a West Australian court as she was sentenced to 16 months' jail for buying pseudoephedrine that allegedly allowed her husband to make methamphetamine.

Jennifer Anne Ruffin appeared in the Perth District Court via video link from Geraldton Court House on Monday after pleading guilty to attempting to manufacture a prohibited drug.

The court heard Ruffin had bought pseudoephedrine, a highly-regulated drug found in some cold and flu medications, about 20 different times.

Judge Andrew Stavrianou said Ruffin's actions enabled her husband to allegedly manufacture drugs and her role in the operation was significant enough to warrant an immediate term of imprisonment.

Ruffin will be eligible for parole once she has served half of her sentence.
