A Perth man has been charged with driving a ride-on lawnmower on a footpath while intoxicated.

The 44-year-old man was travelling along a footpath in suburban Bennett Springs on Sunday afternoon when officers noticed him.

Police say the lawnmower was not capable of being registered and not suitable to be ridden on the road.

They will also allege the man, whose licence had been disqualified, provided a breath test reading of 0.106, more than double the limit.

He has been charged with three offences including driving a vehicle not capable of being registered.

He will face court next month.
