WA man on child abuse charges from 1970s

A 74-year-old Albany man charged with raping a seven-year-old girl at a Christian mission in Western Australia's southwest in the 1970s will face court.

The man was employed at the Roelands Mission in Collie and will face a Bunbury court on Thursday accused of repeatedly raping the girl in 1974 and 1975 following allegations heard by the federal royal commission into institutional child sex abuse.

Roelands was home to hundreds of Aboriginal children taken from their parents and sent there from the 1940s to the 1970s.
