WA high-risk work assessor breached duties

A WorkSafe assessor has been fined $14,000 and had his registration cancelled for the second time after he passed 19 candidates for a high-risk work licence despite them giving wrong or no answers for critical test questions.

Kenneth Sully was the director of Austep Pty Ltd, a registered training organisation that was audited by WorkSafe inspectors in August 2014, when he wrongly marked the candidates as "competent".

Sully was fined in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday, while WorkSafe has contacted the 19 people with the aim of ensuring they are now sufficiently trained to do high-risk work such as scaffolding and operating cranes.
