Major parties make pitches to voters as early voting in WA election begins

Labor and the Liberals are making their final appeals to Western Australians in the state election, as early voting kicks off with less than two weeks until polling day. 

Labor's campaign centres around the "Made in WA" plan, championed by Premier Roger Cook. 

The centrepiece of Cook's pitch was the announcement of a  $387 million battery and manufacturing plan at the party's launch, where former premier Mark McGowan declared Cook as "better than" himself.

Although Labor holds a strong majority, its success will be measured not only by victory but also by the number of seats lost. 

The Liberal Party and leader Libby Mettam continues to focus on issues such as household financial struggles and the state of the healthcare system. 

While outright victory is unlikely, there is an opportunity for the Liberal-National alliance to gain seats in regional electorates like Kalgoorlie, Albany, and Geraldton.

Pre-polling has now begun, with election day on March 8.
