WA drug dealer's murderer to be sentenced

A Perth man will face a sentencing hearing after being found guilty of murdering a drug dealer who owed him money.

John Paul Crossland killed 42-year-old Richard Travis Holloway at a unit in South Perth in May 2013 by bashing his head with a cricket bat and stabbing his leg with a knife.

Crossland admitted during his trial in the West Australian Supreme Court that he caused Mr Holloway's death, but claimed it was self-defence.

Mr Holloway's body was found when a neighbour broke into the unit to feed his cat.

Crossland was found guilty by a jury on Tuesday and sentencing submissions will be heard on Wednesday.
