WA cop faces court over child abuse

A police sergeant has appeared in a Perth court accused of sexually abusing four boys while he was a teacher at a Catholic college more than 30 years ago.
Eamon Dominic Heary, 56, faced Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday accused of indecent treatment of the eight-year-old boys sometime between 1984 and 1985.
He was not required to plead and was released on bail until his next court date on May 1.

Heary is a sergeant in the Central Metropolitan District but has been stood down from operational duties.
In a statement, Edmund Rice Education Australia, the Christian Brothers Oceania Province and Catholic Education WA said they would continue to co-operate fully with the police investigation.
