A bushfire north of Perth has been contained by firefighters and no longer poses a threat to lives and homes.

The watch and act alert for North Muchea was downgraded on Monday night to an advice after the blaze had burnt through about 4000 hectares.

Brand Highway has been reopened, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services says.

The remaining watch and act alert in Western Australia applies to Myrup near Esperance, where the lightning-sparked bushfire is not contained or controlled.

More lightning is worrying DFES, and anyone who sees fresh fires is urged to contact triple-zero.

A fire North of Esperance last week killed four people and destroyed two homes.
