WA bushfire class action to go to trial

A class action over a fire that razed 57 homes in the Perth hills is set to go to trial after mediation failed.
The massive blaze started when a rotten and termite-ridden private power pole fell over in January 2014 and residents started legal action after EnergySafety found Western Power contractors inspected the pole twice since July 2013.
The matter will return to the Supreme Court on Friday during which Slater and Gordon, the law firm representing victims, will ask for a trial date.
