WA budget whisper contract extended

A consultant paid $1250 per day by the West Australian government to help sell its budget has had his contract extended.

Premier Colin Barnett revealed in budget estimates on Tuesday that Robert Taylor, whose contract was due to end last month, had his tenure extended for a short time, but could not say for how long.

Mr Barnett said Mr Taylor was hired because the government had far less media staff than Labor did when they were in power.

Mr Taylor's contract was based on an annual salary of $125,000, which was not exorbitant in Mr Barnett's view.
