WA boy in hospital after being hit by ute

A three-year-old boy has been flown to a Perth hospital after being hit by a car in Western Australia's Mid West region.

Police say the boy was crossing the road when he was struck by a ute travelling at low speed about 11.30am on Saturday.

He was placed in an induced coma at Geraldton Regional Hospital before being flown to Princess Margaret Hospital for Children in Perth on Saturday night.

A 50-year-old male driver is assisting police with their investigation.
