Police find two-year-old and 'stolen' car in strange Perth incident

Police have found a missing child after a vehicle was wrongly claimed to have been stolen in Perth.

WA Police made an urgent appeal for assistance about 2.05pm (AWST) when the vehicle was reported stolen from a hotel in Redcliffe with a child inside.

However, police said it turned out the car had not been stolen.

"Significant police resources were utilised to locate the child and the vehicle," WA Police said in a statement.

The child was found at a home on Collyer Street in Belmont about 3.30pm.

The vehicle was found at an address in Bayswater.

"Further inquiries have revealed the car was not stolen, and no criminal offences have been detected," police said.
