A man will stand trial after a 19-year-old personal trainer was killed with a machete outside a house party in Perth's north.

Abraham Keung Cross appeared in the West Australian Supreme Court via video link from Hakea Prison on Monday where he formally pleaded not guilty.

It is alleged Cross murdered Callum Pinner with a machete outside a house party in Doubleview in October last year.
