Total fire ban for centre and south WA
AAP
A total fire ban is in place for central and southern parts of Western Australia as firefighters continue to battle a blaze north of Perth.
The ban has been declared for all local governments in the Perth metropolitan area, midwest-gascoyne, goldfields-midlands, southwest, lower southwest and greater southern regions.
Any activity that could start a fire is banned.

Hot work such as metal work, grinding, welding, soldering or gas cutting is not allowed unless an exemption has been granted.
People who ignore the ban could be fined up to $25,000 and/or jailed for 12 months.
