Perth toddler Sam Trott has been farewelled by friends and family this afternoon.

The autistic boy’s body was found in a lake by police divers about 24 hours after he went missing.

He was farewelled today by hundreds at a funeral served at the Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park.

Family members had decided against a private ceremony as a way to thank the Perth community who joined the search efforts.

A moving audio-visual presentation was played during the service, highlighting Sam’s brief life.

In the wake of his death, his family requested donations to the Autism Association of WA in lieu of flowers.
